I feel like an army. A whole army fighting some war. And boy, am I losing. People used to be all altruistic, but morale is fading. Mugwumps, tergiversators, and fifth-columnists. It's a trench war, and rats are eating my wounded troops. Others are willing to venture into no man's land weaponless, taking it all. More barbed wire adorns my troops than ribbons and medals. And no one is back home with a torch song. While many more burn their draft cards, on the tombs of my troops that have died. They're all unknown soldiers. Or more like a submarine. With pin holes, just plunging downward. Friends with barnacles. Death before ever knowing because of the pressure discrepancy.
Interesting mix of music, maybe you'll like this

Nice to listen to. Hard to watch.
ReplyDeleteI liked it though. Didn't feel like I conveyed that.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it, but of curiosity, why was it hard to watch
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to see people get that emotional sometimes. I am a bit on emotional overload right now, I've started like four paintings and none of them have any continuity nor are they finished. I will remember the link though, to watch it again when I am more at peace.
ReplyDeleteWhat Baroque are you listening to? Any Bach?
ReplyDeleteGot a bunch of cello concerto's by Bach. And I like Vivaldi alright. Like I said before, I think I am the funniest person ever because I made up a fake album cover for Handel called "Too Hot to Handel"
ReplyDeleteMy instrumental music collection is kind of obscure. I quite enjoy expressionist composers and late romanticists. I like those because I like visual arts and literature of those times as well.
Wow. Carried awaaaaaayyyyyyy
Don't worry about getting carried away, it's hard to find good conversation on instrumental music.
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't listened to any of Bach's concert stuff, I mainly listen to his cello suites, inventions, and fugues. I always switch on Bach whenever I'm doing homework. It's great music in this kind of sense because it stimulates the mind without distracting you because there aren't any catchy loops, the music keeps moving harmonically and rhythmically while working the mind.
You mention expressionist composers, so I'm going to mention an impressionist: have you listened to Debussy? He's a french composer, did a lot of his stuff for piano; everybody and their mother knows Clair De Lune.
with whom am i conversing?
ReplyDeletei don't listen to music while i study. my brain's too messy to add more while i am trying to learn.
yeah, not a fan of impressionism really. nor debussy. reminds me of my ex boyfriend.
all about romanticism lately. roses and john keats and emotion and the french revolution. i don't think i'm real in 2009.
Take a wild guess
ReplyDeletei mustn't.
ReplyDeleteBah, you're no fun. But yeah, it's me Steve.
ReplyDeleteI've never been fun. ever. Not a day in my life.
ReplyDeleteIf you truly think that, I don't want to know what fun is
ReplyDeleteI'll keep it mysterious. Like all these damn anonymous comments. I hate mystery. We were given names for a reason, I think going by an alter ego is more mysterious than anonymous. I sit in front of all the anonymous comments and over analyze spelling, punctuation, and phrasing. Seriously. It drives me nuts trying to figure it out. Don't get me wrong I love comments. I get a little email noise on my computer and it's fun. But one of these days some "anonymous" is going to show up at my door and either kill me or run away with me. I just like to at least have a mental image (real or not) of them? Form some letters to make a name. Everyone.
ReplyDeletePardon my laziness, just know that all above comments that weren't from you were from me.
ReplyDeleteTHAAANKKKK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. But really. People are like embarrassed to comment on my blog or something. Might change the name to "hereliesanonymous"
ReplyDeleteSteve David by the way, if it wasn't obvious, I'm so damn vain that I think I'm the only "Steve" in everybody's life.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Wouldn't it have been funny if it was Steve DeSitter? Good ol' guy. A first name is all I ask. It doesn't even have to be real. You could have said..."Lowell" or "Babette" and I would have been happy.
